Two years ago, Mike proposed to Julia at the same place they were going to say “I do” in just a few hours. It was a glorious and sunny day in Santa Barbara, and absolutely perfect for a Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History Wedding.
In the morning, Julia got ready with some of her closest friends and family members at an airbnb in Santa Barbara. She chose to match the whimsical and earthy feeling of the venue with her succulent bouquet, green shoes, and a delicate gold vine in her hair.
After they got ready separately, Mike waited for Julia in the exact same spot that he proposed to her a couple years before. Tucked away behind the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History are winding paths through the beautiful oak trees. It was in this private oasis that they saw each other for the first time!
After the couple shared their first look, we walked around the property to take more photos. Eventually the bridal party and family joined us for more photos as well.
While we waited for the ceremony, the bridesmaids poured some rosé and enjoyed the warm rays of sunshine. By the time all the guests arrived, everyone was feeling ready to celebrate this wonderful couple!
After the ceremony, the guests wandered over to the patio for cocktail hour. Everyone enjoyed the couple’s favorite wines from Lucas and Lewellen and a delicious spread of hors d’oeuvres. The bride and groom were able to laugh and talk with their guests before we slipped away for some sunset portraits.
Eventually we left the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History to make our way to the reception site – The Narrative Loft. Everyone piled into the Santa Barbara Trolleys and made their way to the party!
The Narrative Loft is full of funky decor, moody lighting, and beautiful woodwork. It created such a fun ambiance for the wedding reception.
This Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History Wedding was one for the books! Everyone had a blast sipping on the best wine, eating the best Bettina pizza, and dancing the night away.

[…] I love how many photo locations there are within the venue. The palm trees glowed in the sunset light against the pink Santa Barbara mountains, and everything reflecting against the pool’s still blue water. It was oh so dreamy! I’m so lucky to be a wedding photographer in a beautiful place like Santa Barbara! If you liked this styled shoot, then check out this Santa Barbara wedding. […]
