If you’re hoping to take engagement photos in Santa Barbara, California, there is no shortage of stunning locations. With its Spanish-inspired white walls and red tile roofs, nestled between the towering Santa Ynez mountains and the sparkling shores of the Pacific, it is the perfect place.
Whether you’re looking for unique architecture or beautiful views, Santa Barbara has it all.
As a professional wedding photographer, I’ve done my fair share of engagement photoshoots in Santa Barbara. So, I want to share some of my absolute favorites with you.
Lizard’s mouth rugged rocks and trails provide the perfect location for engagement photos. You can spend forever scampering from one rocky viewpoint to the next, pausing between giant boulders, finding pockets of light. There’s plenty of neutral rocky backgrounds to make a couple stand out, as well as huge sweeping views of Santa Barbara.

Obviously, Santa Barbara has some pretty great beaches. So many, in fact, that I have to list more than one! Here are some of the best beaches for engagement photos in Santa Barbara.
The Santa Barbara courthouse highlights the unique Spanish-inspired architecture in Santa Barbara, and it also provides plenty of green grass and unique plants in the sunken gardens.
Just like the beaches in Santa Barbara, there are numerous bluffs that provide great engagement photo locations!
Walk down a beautiful path with views of the Santa Ynez Valley and mountains. You’ll eventually arrive at an old, ruined mansion with absolutely stunning sunset views. This place is being rebuilt, so go before it’s too late!
The Santa Barbara Botanic Garden is the perfect place for engagement photos because of the wide variety of backgrounds. For example, there is the redwood forest, the field pictured above, the greenhouse, and the desert section just to name a few.
Walking around the funk zone, you can find cool buildings, warehouses, white walls, and murals to take photos in front of! It provides a more modern and industrial, yet still very classy vibe.
