Big Sur was such a special place for Isaiah and Sydney to do their engagement photos. They have driven along highway 1 in their VW bus quite a few times, making memories along the way.
Although, if there’s one downside to Big Sur, it’s that you can’t trust the weather report. I know that looking my weather app every day for a week leading up to a shoot isn’t going to help me at all, but I do it anyways. This particular shoot was one of those times when the weather app just couldn’t make up it’s mind on whether or not the sun was going to shine or the rain was going to pour. We didn’t let that stop us from driving up to Big Sur for, at the very least, a camping trip.
My husband and I have known Isaiah and Sydney for a long time, and they’re some of our closest friends. We eat meals together, go out together, go camping, surfing, climbing, and just have a ton of fun with them every time. When we decided to go camping in Big Sur we thought it would be the perfect place to take their engagement photos. If you’ve ever been to Big Sur, you know it’s one of the most beautiful places along the West Coast. Giant rocks jutting out of the water, crashing waves, huge cliffs, fog, mist, trees, waterfalls – it’s breathtaking.
Well, as soon as we stepped out of the car, it started sprinkling. We laughed it off because when Isaiah proposed to Sydney on the beach a few weeks before it had been POURING, so some light rain didn’t feel too bad. These two were such troopers and wandered out onto the cliffs with me, rain and all. We only lasted about 15 minutes before it started to rain too hard, but we got some beautiful shots in the process 🙂
